Made from safety-orange cotton twill, it features picture smocking of a yellow dump truck, a cobalt excavator and orange traffic cones across the chest. Finishing details include two carpenter cargo pockets with button flaps, brass rivets and D-rings; white contrast topstitching; a sunshine-yellow hem band with a silver reflective stripe like a safety vest; a tiny embroidered hard hat on one pocket flap; yellow back sash.

Every little builder needs a uniform. We borrowed the safety-vest stripe and the cargo pocket straight from the job site, then softened it with flutter sleeves and a hand-smocked truck parade.
